Though the summer heat in English may be fleeting, while it lasts we need to grab an opportunity to ditch the warming bowls of oats in favour of cooling shakes and smoothies. Since my heart belongs to dessert, the best kinds of breakfast and post-workout snacks for me are those that resemble my favourite sweet treats. This caramel pecan protein shake is the absolute epitomy of decadence and indulgence. It’s rich, sweet and creamy, yet it’s also packed full of whole foods and nutrient dense ingredients. Here, you get a fantastic balance of carbohydrates, fats and protein to ensure that your body fuelled and energised. It’s the perfect way to treat your mind and body to a little bit of love!
- 1 medium-large frozen banana
- 200ml brown rice milk
- 1 medjool date
- 1 tablespoon pecan butter
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1 scoop unflavoured protein (I use brown rice protein but whey or hemp will also work)
Simply place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Transfer to a glass and enjoy!
