Though these events are always along the same lines and I’m sure you all know the drill of things by now, I couldn’t let this special event pass by without sharing a post about it on my blog to celebrate.
This last Sunday, Plant-based Picnic celebrated it’s one year anniversary and so of course had to hold one of our beloved events at our favourite venue, Tanya’s Cafe. It wasn’t just an event we were celebrating however, it was also the creation of friendships and a community, creativity and, above all else, a united passion for health. I never would have thought one year ago when Natasha, Pixie and I put together our first event that it would ever have become what it is today. Or, for that matter, given me so much to be happy and excited about every day. I’ve met people who are constant sources of inspiration, whether that’s related to their personal strives for health or their visions for changing the face of this scene. I’ve met some of my best friends who have supported my beliefs, challenged my limits and helped me find positives in any situation. It’s truly been a blessing.
As always, the gorgeous healthy foodies of London brought their own amazing plant-based creations for their fellow healthistas to enjoy. Truthfully, this was the tastiest picnic we’ve ever had – there wasn’t a single thing I tried that I didn’t love. We had a beautiful savoury table full of salads, quiches, delicious dips and the most gorgeous Indian soup, created by Megha, the fabulous founder of Earthmiles, who took home the prize for best savoury dish, a goodie bag from Neal’s Yard Remedies. Meanwhile, over on the sweet table, beauty and decadence was plentiful. We had everything from raw cake, caramel slices, brownies, a genius DIY bliss ball station, but the sweet that stole the show was the gorgeous chocolate doughnut cake created by plant-based picnic regular, Dani. Dani’s creations never fail to impress and this time she took it to a whole new level – it was impossible not to award her a goodie bag from Coconut Merchant. Be sure to keep an eye out on Dani’s instagram page, pancakesandflowers, as she’s in the process of setting up her own cafe to bring Londoners a taste of gorgeous, plant-based treats!
