September Plant Based Picnic

I don’t know where to begin with this post. I’ve drafted and re-drafted the opening sentence so many times, trying everything from an elaborate anecdote to an incomprehensible amalgamation of words that represent my excitement. Honestly, there is just no way to describe the incredible feeling I get when reflecting back on this past weekend. So, rather than simplifying the enormity of my emotions with a whimsical and well thought out introduction, I shall go right ahead and tell you why I’m on cloud nine.

Last Sunday was the second Plant Based Picnic, a monthly gathering in London for health foodies to meet and share their plant based creations. The event was organised by myself and my friends Natasha and Pixie, following the overwhelming response to our first picnic back in August. The first picnic was a rather spontaneous event, organised just days before. We held it in Regent’s Park, with food and guests spread across a large plastic blanket on the grass, and it was an absolutely wonderful day. Even with its impromptu nature, we had a great turnout of almost twenty people. However, once word went out on Instagram of our incredible gathering, there was a huge demand for another one. With more people and more interest, we knew we had to go bigger.

Since that weekend, Natasha, Pixie and I worked furiously to put together the best picnic possible. The wonderful Tanya Alekseeva offered up her beautiful cafe in Chelsea as a venue and soon the ideas, and RSVPs, were flying in. We collaborated with Welltodo London to put together amazing gift bags for all our guests to take home, including goodies from Punch Foods, Rebel Kitchen, Rude Health, Content Beauty, Coco Zumi, Organic Super Blends, and Love Raw. We also received a tremendous donation from Neal’s Yard Remedies – a box of health and wellness products – which we decided to award to the guest with the best creation. Everything came together in the space of just three short weeks and on Sunday it was just a matter of setting up and letting the feast begin.DSC_0027-Copy

It was truly the most incredible evening. Meeting so many like minded people, each with a story behind their passion for health and a mutual love of food, was one of the greatest experiences I’ve been blessed with. Everyone who attended was so creative with their contributions and so amazing to talk to. It was especially lovely to catch up with the girls from Plant Based Picnic 1.0, who made such an impact on Instagram with their beautiful dishes from the first picnic that others wanted to share the same amazing food and company, thus resulting in what we hope will become a monthly event. It will be great to see familiar faces at future picnics, as well as meeting many new ones along the way. Plant Based Picnic number three can’t come soon enough!

See you in October!
